GENERAL INFORMATION
Formation
The Redditch Sailing Club was formed in 1960 and sailed
on the River Avon at Offenham, near Evesham. In June
1973, the Club transferred its headquarters to the newly
created lake in the Arrow Valley Park at Redditch. The
lake is approximately 27 acres in extent and is a good
shape for sailing, being roughly triangular with two
central islands. The Club has built a
two-storey brick
Clubhouse that includes a galley with bar facilities,
changing rooms and showers, as well as storage space for
equipment. Slipways and car and dinghy parking
facilities are also available.
Dinghy Classes
The Club is open to all types and classes of sailing
dinghy up to 14ft in length.

Independent Sailing
During the last few years, safety in sailing has been
shown to be a priority. Consequently, increasing
demands are being asked of safety at RSC. This has led
to the Club deciding to adopt a policy of joint sailing
and no independent sailing.
There must
be a minimum of two boats on the water at any one time
in order to provide assistance if the crew of either
should get into difficulties.
THIS SAFETY POLICY MUST BE ADHERED TO
Buoyancy Aids
It is Club policy that no one is allowed on the water
without wearing a buoyancy aid. They must
be worn at all times, whether it is for racing, fun or
safety boat cover.
Boat Park
A record of boats and owners is kept upstairs in the
glass-fronted notice board. If for any reason your boat
or telephone number changes, please will you make the
relevant alterations on this list. Please check that
the information on the list is correct.
Boat Parking Pitches
You are responsible for maintaining your pitch. This
does mean mowing or strimming your boat area. You
should always ensure your boat is properly tied down.
Children
The Club welcomes children. Young children should not be
left unattended in the Clubhouse or grounds and must be
kept under control at all times. Those under the age of
13 must wear a buoyancy aid if going
within 5 metres of the lake.
Play Area
Please note that children play here at their own risk.
The Club does not hold itself responsible for any injury
incurred whilst children are playing on this equipment.
If you own a boat that is kept close by, please ensure
that items do not spread out onto this area.
Working Party
These are held spring and autumn, when the Clubhouse and
grounds are given their twice-yearly grooming. This can
entail quite a bit of work, so you should come along and
give a hand. The Club will not tidy itself and, left
unattended will soon become neglected and overgrown.
Parking
Only the Officer of the Day and the galley manager
should park in the boat compound during Club opening
hours. Park your vehicle in the Club car park.
Unloading is allowed in the boat park providing you then
remove your car to the car park. Please keep the Club
gates closed.
Insurance
- (See Sailing Instructions 1|2(1YRU19))
All members sailing boats must have a Third Party
insurance policy with minimum value as stated on
appropriate declaration.
Security
All money and belongings brought into the Clubhouse and
changing rooms are done so at your own risk. Money,
purses, wallets, watches, etc may be left behind the
bar. Please note expensive tools and sails left in your
parked boats may not be covered by your sailing
insurance. It is essential to keep the Club gates
closed at all times.
First Aid Box
This is kept behind the bar. Point to remember - Blood
is very difficult to remove from sails!!!!!
Emergency Telephone Numbers
These are kept next to the telephone in the bar.
Notice Boards
Any "Wanted" or "For Sale" items you may have, please
