OOD Duties

These Duties Apply to Both Tuesday Evening & Sunday Racing

Everyone in the Club takes a part in the organisation and running of the Sunday morning and Tuesday evening races and the following should be noted:

Race Start Times

Sunday Racing:     10:00 am

Tuesday Evening Racing:  7:00-7:15 pm

Duty crew should arrive at least 1 hour before racing commences.

Duty Rota

This is issued well in advance of the duties stated and is displayed on the notice board in the foyer of the Clubhouse.  Check which day you are on duty.  If for any reason you are not available on that date, it is your responsibility to provide cover.  Ask around the Club.  There is bound to be someone willing to swap a duty with you.

Officer Of the Day (OOD)

This will be the person actually in charge of the racing on the day of duty.  Your OOD should contact you before your duty day to confirm that you are available.  If you are having difficulty in finding someone to cover your duty day, contact him/her immediately.

Safety Boat

Everyone will take a short Safety Boat course on a Sunday after sailing.  If you are due for duty and have not taken part in one of these, please contact Dave Jackson, Training Officer, who will book you in.

IMPORTANT

A safety boat must be on the water at all times during racing and must be manned by two people. One person is not enough to deal with an emergency and three people are too many.

Security

It is the responsibility of the OOD and crew to tidy and lock up the Clubhouse when everyone has left.  Ensure that all lights are turned off, doors and outer buildings and gates are securely locked.  You should stay until 4.30pm during winter and summer hours.

Rubbish

Bins must be emptied, both inside and out of the Clubhouse and taken in the safety boat to the council end of the lake and left by the bins in the new centre.

Milk

The OOD must supply 4 pints of milk for the Sunday racing and will be reimbursed from the bar.

Telephone Numbers

Due to the importance of your duty day, could you please ensure that your telephone number held by the Membership Secretary is up to date so that you may be contacted should any problems arise.
